Summary A 25-year-old woman, admitted on account of rubella infection, developed sudden loss of hearing in her right ear a few days after admission, which was diagnosed as severe sensorineural hearing loss. In view of the recent rubella infection, it seems reasonable to assume that this was a case of complicated neuritis confined to a single eighth nerve.

Einseitiger Hörsturz durch Rötelninfektion beim Erwachsenen
Zusammenfassung Eine 25jährige Frau, die wegen Rötelninfektion eingewiesen wurde, entwickelte wenige Tage nach ihrer Ankunft einen plötzlichen Hörsturz im rechten Ohr. Ein schwerer sensorineuraler Hörverlust wurde diagnostiziert. In Anbetracht der frischen Rötelninfektion scheint die Annahme vertretbar zu sein, daß es sich hier um eine auf einen achten Hirnnerven beschränkte Neuritis handelt.
